Oomph of Maxi Dresses

A post after a long time. The break was partially because of a complete writer/idea block and trying to cope with the workload. I cannot blog if I have several pending deadlines and timelines dangling over me. So here comes one about the dresses - the Maxi dresses in particular.

These dresses have always fascinated me. One can wear them on so many occassions and at so many places, and you can never look out of place or wrong. Also, women of all sizes can carry these off with the right patterns and cuts. Our country has now started opening up to having these on the market. You find them at stores such as Forever 21, howeever, they are still among the casual wear out here. To get a good formal evening wear, I guess, a good seamstress is needed to do the trick. So here are a few pictures of the ones I thought are worth a peep...

Monsoons have set in here. The denims go back into the shelves as commuting in them in this weather is not practical and drying them out is such a pain. Plus the humidity makes the denim cling and stick to your skin which is so not funny. I loved these dresses for that lovely rainy weather in your city, where you walk out looking as pretty as can be :)

The above definitely do not classify as the typical Maxi dress. But I thought these dresses were worth a mention for our kind of downpours and humid weathers. The two dresses are in contrast...while the safari dress adds to the subtlety of our Indian colors, the yellow one attempts to break open the surrounding into one vibrant canvas.

Now for the maxi dresses....
Simple floral print halterneck dress

For that evening, where you must have to make a statement - the long-sleeved, Backless dress

One of the prettiest of patterns that just sits well on any frame - a layered chiffon dress

The dramatic one - An 'A' line that contibutes to the silhouette, with a drama of colors in the pattern itself

The perfect colour - for the most casual of days

The elegant one - white, pristine as ever, standing tall with a slit at the right length for those toned up legs

As much as I love some of the ready-made dresses available, I have started searching for a seamstress to give me the right evening dress. Dresses are elegant and bring out the beauty of a woman like no other. A famous quote by Mae West, seals the deal on this one, "Say what you want about long dresses, but they cover a multitude of shins." ;)
